Our (Rapidly) Degrading Society

Well, that didn't take long!

This one is such a winner that I can't wait until tonight to comment on it.

"School Board Bans Yearbook Photo Of Student Posing With Shotgun"

The photo that young Mr. Blake Douglas presented to the Yearbook Commity is one of the most professional-looking photos I've ever seen for a high school yearbook. There is no way that a person can look you in the eyes and say that this photo is "inappropriate". The photos that a senior has in his or her section of a yearbook should be decided by that person. I do agree that there should be some regulation, but that regulation should not ban fully clothed people in completely normal, law-biding situations from being shown in the yearbook. One could make the argument that since the shotgun photo is "inappropriate" for a yearbook, my fencing pictures are also inappropriate for a yearbook since I am holding a "sword" (as the uneducation should say) in my hand.

God-forbid we let our children be remembered in their high school yearbooks holding a shotgun in an extremely professional looking sportsman pose, but let the airwaves show images of some of the most hidious human beings on the face of the earth, known as terrorists, being shown sawing off the heads of other human beings, US citizens or not. Those of you who live with your double standards are some of the most depressing excuses for people one could think of. If you could organize the words which echos between your eardrums (which is simply a default repetition of the mindless drivle that your televisions produce), you could actually be productive members of society. I say you could be productive because you latch on to ideas that can hold no water at all, imagine if you actually latched onto an idea which was logical, made sense & was correct? However, instead of bothering to think and research for yourselves, you will believe whatever the "anchor of the week" spews forth. The same lack of orginal thought proceeding from your minds is the same silence that one can find in the Arctic tundra. As my own dad has said many times, "I wish stupidity was a crime."

No, you can't have your shotgun pose picture in the yearbook, but my 16 year old daughter can have more ink in her body that you can find in the pens of a college student's dorm room and more piercings on her face than you can put make up on. How long will people continue to emphasize the wrong aspects of society? Think up!! How much will a yearbook picutre affect us in 5 years? It won't matter. How much will the current direction of our nose-diving circa-high school/graduate culture affect us in 5 years? TONS. Those juvenile delinquents that you and I see running around everyday after the future of this country. Parents, step up & grow a backbone. If you need to go a friggin' website to learn about how to talk to your own kid about drugs, sex or cigarettes, you have serious issues that need to be dealt with. Use false courage or something. You're the parent, they're the child. Kick them into shape. How do you expect your kid to be a productive member of society if you don't teach them anything? Get a clue, citizens of America.

I would keep going, but I need to get ready for my next class. Good luck, America.
